Allies Network Training

The Allies Network is designed to improve visibility and support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, allied, and asexual (LGBTQIA) members of the University community. This training program, hosted by Cross Cultural and Leadership Development, Office of Student Affairs, includes information that will help participants increase their knowledge of and sensitivity to LGBTQIA issues.

Self-Defense Awareness Familiarization Exchange 

Self-Defense Awareness Familiarization Exchange is a crime-victim prevention and awareness program sponsored by the National Self-Defense Institute, Inc. This program teaches students a variety of self-defense tactics and options if confronted by an attacker. Residence Officer Program provides an opportunity for the Pitt Police and the students to work together in a non-confrontational setting

Women's Center and Shelter

The Women’s Center and Shelter addresses issues experienced by individuals whose lives are affected by domestic violence. Topics addressed during this training include: confidentiality, impact of domestic violence, safety planning, active listening, crisis intervention, and the legal system as it pertains to domestic violence. 

Pittsburgh Action Against Rape

PAAR continuously works to respond, educate, and advocate to end sexual violence. Topics addressed during this training include: benefits of a coordinated response to sexual violence, the role of an advocate on campus, understanding victim responses to trauma, identifying barriers to disclosure, considerations for communicating with victims, and compassion fatigue for staff.
