Faculty Recruitment

The OFCCP has changed the required tag line for faculty postings.  The new tag line should read “The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action/ Equal Opportunity Employer and values equality of opportunity, human dignity and diversity, EOE, including disability/vets.

The University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and recognizing an excellent and diverse faculty.

Attracting the most diverse and qualified pool of candidates is essential to your search, and to the continued excellence of Pitt.

ODEI offers customized Briefing Sessions on searching for excellence and diversity.  Please contact the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at diversity@pitt.edu or 412-648-7860 to schedule a session.

Determining appropriate interview questions can be difficult, but the Pre-Employment Inquiry Guide can help.

Additional information about faculty recruitment and retention can be found at the Office of the Provost.

Processing Faculty and Academic Employee Actions and Hiring

In January 2021, we archived the Employee Records (ER) and Appointment form in conjunction with the University’s new HR/Payroll System, PittWorx. This was also the start of Faculty and Other Academics offers and onboarding being processed through the Universities Applicant Tracking System, Talent Center. With this transition comes a learning curve and questions as to how to process employee actions and hiring changes.

The Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the Provost’s Office and the Office of Human Resources have collaborated to identify common Faculty and Other Academic employee actions and hiring scenarios across the entire University. In the spreadsheet, you will find each action/scenario, if a posting to join.pitt.edu is required and how to process the transaction.

If you have any questions or actions within your area that you do not see on this list, please contact Cheryl Ruffin at cruffin@pitt.edu

Conciliation Agreement

As a federal contractor, the University of Pittsburgh is committed to affirmative action in employment as a means of ensuring equality of opportunity.  A recent compliance review revealed areas that required that we improve the way that we are capturing faculty applicant data. Therefore, it is necessary to change the way that the University recruits for faculty.  Effective January 3, 2020, faculty recruitment will be initiated through the Talent Center or an on-line system approved by the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

This memo explains what the OFCCP is requiring.

Conciliation Agreement Training

To schedule a face to face training, please contact the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at 412 648-7860 or diversity@pitt.edu.
